Description
Dia-cutaneous fibrolysis is an original technique of non-invasive specifc mobilisation of the myo-aponevrotic structures. It allows to release adhesions which are at the origin of a limitation of the the mobility of tissue planes.
This technique is realised with a specially designed metal tool, the "hook".
Ekman has introduced the concept of picking some 30 years ago. Since then numerous therapists apply it successfully in various clinical situations: treatment of myo-tendinous pains of the musculoskeletal system, whether they are of traumatic or inflammatory origin.
Some fundamental and clinical studies show the real interest of this very targeted approach of the mobilisation of the soft tissue. It underlines in particular the feeling of relaxation, a reduction of the reflex H and a decrease in the deep-tendon reflexes up to 30 minutes after the picking session, an increased vascularity of the region picked...
The practice of picking requires an in-depth knowledge of the palpatory anatomy as well as specific training in the handling of the various hooks.
Objectives and skills developed
Indications for myofascial picking:
- Syndroms of restriction of tissue mobility, adherences, post-surgical or post-traumatic after-effects....Contractures, muscle tear, musculo-aponeurotic lesions;
- Inflammatory pains of the musculoskeletal system, epicondylitis, medical epicondylitis, scapulohumeral periarthritis, tenosynovities/tendinopathy of the Achilles tendon, and others...low back pain, torticollis, groin injury....;
- Trophic syndrome, Dupuytren, Carpal tunnel, Cubital tunnel, algo-neural dystrophie, Cynovial cyst..... ;
- Treatment of various neuralgia and consecutive to a mechanic irritation, occipital neuralgia, hemicrania, sciatica,...(all sensory piercing nerves which could be at the origin of territorialized neuralgia);
- Treatment of skin and muscle scars, post-axillary strings;
- Tension-related headaches.
Content/Specificities
The training is focused on a theoretical and practical programme ,which includes:
- Theoretical refresher sessions and exercises on palpatory anatomy, illustrated by an iconography of superior quality;
- Sessions with integrated exercises of hook manipulations on various anatomic reliefs illustrating the application of the technique in various clinical situations;
- Critically minded presentations of published studies on the picking technique will give participants the scientific foundations of this therapeutic approach.
Practical information
- The training is composed of 1 seminar of 30 hours (4days).
Trainer: Pierre Duby Training dates: 22, 23, 24 and 25 November 2017
